Cafi Chanta returns again on March 7th for an exceptional musical evening. ÿuma, the internationally acclaimed Tunisian duo renowned for their seamless blend of folk, world, and alternative music, will take centre stage. Immerse yourself in the soul-stirring melodies of Sabrine Jenhani and Ramy Zoghlemi as they challenge artistic and cultural norms with their music. Ÿuma
A Tunisian Folk, world and alternative music duo, composed by Sabrine Jenhani and Ramy Zoghlemi. Their passion for the same genre of music gave birth to the Duo Project named Yuma, named and chosen for its several meanings, allies in native American dialect, good friends in old North Algerian Amazigh dialect, beautiful or graceful dancer in Japanese… Ÿuma’s 1st album named „Chura“ is a mix of many from their beloved influences such as Folk, Blues, Ethnic, Rock and spiritual music. Released in March 2016, it contains 7 tracks written in Tunisian Derja, the national spoken language, inspired by old sayings of grandmothers, poetic ancient Tunisian language, tales and adages that inspired the young Tunisian generations. The album was a great success both throughout their country, and later eastern countries and Europe. Both Songwriters and composers, the duo made this album a bittersweet mix between the unbreakable and weak, between brightness and darkness. The album has also travelled through Europe. Smek, a song from the album, was remixed by the great German Dj Rey & Kjavik and Ricardo Villalobos. Liya Snin also has Inspired Kamiel Rongen, a Hungarian visual artist.
Ÿuma had been touring through Tunisia, their homeland, then multiple times on tour in Europe; Festival villes de musique du monde in Paris, No border Brest, Trans musicales Rennes, Reeperbahn Festival in Germany, Visa for music in Morocco, les vieilles charrues Britany…
