[EN] A dive into the rich musical universe of Brazilian rhythms. We will explore the historical context, listen to excerpts and practice in group. The participants will enhance their listening and gain knowledge to use in their own musical projects. Aimed for a public of musicians of all levels and different instruments, the goal is to provide a better understanding of rhythm through the concept of clave, using african-brazilian rhythms as examples and giving the students the tools to use this concept and this knowledge on their practice, to enhance their listening and in the development of their musical projects. The workshop will be given by brazilian drummer and producer Pedro Fonte.
For all musicians, with any instrument and skill level. Please bring your instruments.
Pedro Fonte is a Brazilian drummer, composer and producer from Rio de Janeiro. Pedro plays with prominent artists such as Rubel, Cícero, Ana Frango Elétrico, Bruno Berle, Antonio Neves. In the past years, Pedro has also done consistent research in african-brazilian rhythm. This research was concluded in 2023 as a master’s degree in music teaching in UNIRIO.
[DE] Wir tauchen ein in das reiche musikalische Universum der brasilianischen Rhythmen. Wir werden den historischen Kontext erkunden, Ausschnitte hören und Rhythmen gemeinsam erarbeiten. Ziel des Kurses ist es, Musiker:innen aller Niveaus und Instrumentierungen ein besseres Rhythmusverständnis durch das Prinzip der Clave zu vermitteln – anhand afrikanischer und brasilianischer Rhythmen. Die Teilnehmenden lernen, dieses Wissen direkt in ihrer musikalischen Praxis anzuwenden und ihr Hören sowie ihre Projekte gezielt weiterzuentwickeln. Der Workshop wird von dem brasilianischen Schlagzeuger und Produzenten Pedro Fonte geleitet.
Für alle Musiker, mit jedem Instrument und jeder Spielstärke. Bitte bringt eure Instrumente mit.
