[DE] Dandara Modesto ist eine transdisziplinär arbeitende brasilianische Sängerin, Performerin und Musikproduzentin. Sie setzt sich mit der zeitgenössischen brasilianischen Musik und ihren Wurzeln in der Tradition afro-brasilianischer Rhythmen auseinander. Im Lauf ihrer Karriere hat Dandara an verschiedenen Projekten in den Bereichen Musik, Tanz, Theater, bildende Kunst und Performance in Brasilien und Europa mitgewirkt. In ihrem Album „Estrangeira“ (2022), das sie in der Schweiz, in Portugal, Galizien und Brasilien aufnahm, singt sie vom weiblichen Körper unterwegs, von Migration, der Kraft des Andersseins und
den Ahnen.
[EN] The work of Brazilian singer, performer and music producer Dandara Modesto is transdisciplinary. She reflects a contemporary Brazilian music rooted in the tradition of Afro-Brazilian rhythms. Dandara has collaborated with projects in music, dance, theater, visual arts, and performance in Brazil and Europe. In her latest album, “Estrangeira” (2022), recorded in Switzerland, Portugal, Galicia, and Brazil, Dandara sings about the female body in transit, migration, the power of otherness and ancestry.

[DE] Begleitet wird Dandara vom franko-brasilianischen Gitarristen und Komponisten Edwin Correia, der sich für musikalische Verschränkungen begeistert und ästhetische Grenzen überwindet. Früh entdeckte er den Jazz, widmete sich der Improvisation und dem Blues. Seine Herkunft ermöglichte ihm, tief in die Populärkultur des brasilianischen Bundesstaats Pernambuco einzutauchen. Das Komponieren erwuchs ganz natürlich als Ausdruck seines persönlichen Kosmos, gefärbt vom Blues, der traditionellen Musik des Nordosten Brasiliens und dem Erbe des Jazz.
[EN] Dandara is accompanied by the Franco-Brazilian guitar player and composer Edwin Correia. Edwin is passionate about musical intersections and transcends aesthetic borders. Early on he discovered Jazz, devoted himself to improvisation and the Blues. Of Brazilian origin, he was able to dive deep into the popular cultures of Brazilians Northeast. Composing grew naturally as an expression of his personal cosmos, tinged by the Blues, the traditional music of the Northeast and the legacy of Jazz.
