[DE] Die in Ho-Chi-Minh-Stadt ansässige Band Saigon Soul Revival (SSR) bringt seit 2016 alternative Musik aus Saigon aus der Zeit vor 1975 zurück auf die Bühne. Mit mitreißenden Live-Auftritten würdigt die Band die ursprünglichen Komponisten und Sänger der goldenen Ära des „Nhac Vàng“ und präsentiert gleichzeitig neue Arrangements und Interpretationen alter vietnamesischer Lieder.
Die Kernbesetzung besteht aus fünf Mitgliedern: Nguyễn Anh Minh (Gesang), Indy Jeremy Vinh Laville (Gitarre & Àn Nguyệt), Nguyễn Hương Bảo Hiếu (Schlagzeug), Gabriel Kaouros (Bass/Percussion) und Đăng Nguyễn Khoa (Keyboard).
Mit straffen Grooves, psychedelischen Klangtexturen und einem kraftvollen, unverwechselbaren Sound hat SSR unzählige Konzerte in ganz Vietnam gegeben, darunter bei Großveranstaltungen wie dem Quest Festival, Vibe Nation und dem Mui Ne Music & Art Festival.
Im Jahr 2017 nahm die Band an der landesweit bekannten Fernsehsendung „Ban Nhạc Việt“ (international bekannt als „The Band“) teil und trat im Rahmen der Veröffentlichungstouren für die „Saigon Supersound Compilation“-Reihe in Vietnam live auf.
Seit 2023 hat SSR seine Aktivitäten international ausgeweitet und trat unter anderem in Großbritannien und Australien beim WOMAD, in Deutschland beim „Sống ở Berlin“-Festival und beim Festival der Kulturen, in Frankreich bei den „Trans Musicales“, in Portugal beim „Festival Músicas do Mundo“ sowie in China und anderen Ländern auf.
[EN] Based in Ho Chi Minh City, Saigon Soul Revival (SSR) has been bringing alternative pre-1975 music from Saigon back to the stage since 2016. Through electrifying live performances, the band honors the original composers and singers of the golden era of Nhac Vàng, while applying new compositons and interpretations of old Vietnamese songs.
The core lineup consists of five members: Nguyễn Anh Minh (vocals), Indy Jeremy Vinh Laville (guitar & àn Nguyệt), Nguyễn Hương Bảo Hiếu (drums), Gabriel Kaouros (bass/percussion), and Đăng Nguyễn Khoa (keys).
With tight grooves, psychedelic textures, and a powerful, distinctive sound, SSR has performed countless shows across Vietnam, including major events such as Quest Festival, Vibe Nation, and Mui Ne Music & Art Festival.
In 2017, the band participated in the nationally renowned TV format Ban Nhạc Việt (known internationally as The Band) and performed live during the release tours for the Saigon Supersound Compilation series in Vietnam.
Since 2023, SSR has expanded internationally, performing in the UK and Australia at WOMAD, in Germany at Sống ở Berlin Festival and Festival der Kulturen, in France at Trans Musicales, in Portugal at Festival Músicas do Mundo, as well as in China and other countries.
