Future Nuggets: Sounds Of The Unheard From Romania

Sa. 16.07.22

Konzert + DJ Set

Einlass: 20:00

Beginn: 21:00

[EN] Psychedelic sounds and obscure musical hybrids from the dark and hidden corners of Romania. Excursions into the world of music turned upside down. Discoveries, explorations, tours through unheard Romania. This is what the Bucharest underground artist collective Future Nuggets is known for.
After years of drifting productively under the radar, FN now presents „Sounds of the Unheard from Romania, Vol. 4“, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Future Nuggets label. This year they are collaborating with the Berlin label Fun In The Church for the first time. Untraceable gems, melodies and breaks for the restless future; electronica oddities, oriental kraut rock, alt.-pop manifestations, psychedelic soundtracks for imaginary films. Exposing, as always, only the tip of the iceberg, productions surfacing from Bucharest’s label entourage. Introducing new artists and projects to the outernational ears (Suce Fraga, Inana, Sarra, Xenofolk,), but also featuring FN house-hold names (Plevna, Australopitecus Oltensis). Unfamiliar and seductive sounds reverberating from the south-east realm, tracks that challenge genres and synthesize geo-cultural dispositions. Many years and musical adventures have passed since the last volume was released, thus the FN council acknowledged the local time dilation and decided to hyper-jump to volume nr. 4.

Plevna (LIVE)

Plevna is the alias of Horațiu Serbanescu, Bucharest based Musician, Producer and part of Future Nuggets.Incubating for many years his own gems while extracting and forging tunes out of the south-east space-time anomalies, the untraceable sound of Plevna has reached the optimum balance between eighties delicate nostalgia and contemporary local oriental melody. Bouncing on various time signatures, and featuring the delightfully twisted 9/8 groove, his music is a unique contact with a multiverse which seems under meticulous construction. Plevna’s EP and its many soon to be released tracks function like an excursion abundant in haunting melodies and unfamiliar melancholy. A complex sonic alchemy brewed on the border oforient and occident. Multi-directional translations between music traditions through electronic and psychedelic means.

Utopus (DJ SET)

Utopus is an alias of Ion D. that deals with techno heresies, breaks and broken club melancholy.

Australopitecus Oltensis (LIVE)

One of the low-mystic projects of Future Nuggets’ roster. An unpolished character dealing strictly with analog tools, electricity and the ancestral delay of Oltenia. A hominid concerned with primitive techno, unsophisticated dub melancholia and cave reverb. Although rarely, Australopitecus Oltensis performs live on stage.

Suce Fraga (LIVE)

Outernational pseudo-ghetto sensitivity, fragile neo-femme power and genre cannibalism. Fraga could be regarded as a synthetic self-taught producer. Traversing with ease different breeds of electronica while being immersed in trap, hip-hop, r&b, and no-step grooves. Jumping off the grid with unparalleled elegance, her voice keeps all surrounding sounds together rendering in the end a very personal, strangely coherent universe.

Inana – Thomas Höfer (LIVE)

A shimmering far away star of the upside-down, delivering a blissful prospect for the unknown to come. Inana’s particular synthesis of ghost trap, oriental dark wave, prog delirium, hypnagogic manele, all basking in a melodramatic aura. A musical universe where genres intertwine in unheard ways. Inana is navigating global emo-fields of the past and of the future fitting the contemporary affective convulsions.
