Eine Produktion des Water & Sound Festivals (Künstlerische Leitung: Girisha Fernando). Maria Mazzotta gilt als eine der beeindruckendsten und vielfältigsten Stimmen Süditaliens. Musikalisch zu Hause in der Tarantella- und Pizzica-Musik Apuliens, entwickelte sie Abzweigungen von der traditionellen Musik in die freiere, improvisierte Musikwelt. Sie sang in Projekten mit Ballake Sissoko, Justin Adams, Juldeh Camara oder Bobby McFerrin. Derzeit beschreitet Maria Mazzotta mit einer Formation bestehend aus Ernesto Nobili an der E-Gitarre und Perkussionist Cristiano della Monica neue musikalische Wege zwischen Tarantella, Jazz und Prog-Rock. Für einen gemeinsamen Auftritt trifft Maria Mazzotta mit dieser neuen gewagten Konzeption traditioneller apulischer Musik auf ein neues Ensemble des Water & Sound Festivals, The Waterbirds: Eva Welz (Alt Saxophon), Michael Salvermoser (Trompete), Jan Kiesewetter (Tenor Saxophon), Martin Krechlak (Bariton Saxophon) und Tom Jahn (Moog, Juno Synthesizer).
Maria Mazzotta is considered one of the most impressive and diverse voices of southern Italy. Musically at home in the tarantella and pizzica music of Puglia, she developed forks from traditional music into the freer, improvisational musical world. She sang in projects with Ballake Sissoko, Justin Adams, Juldeh Camara or Bobby McFerrin. Currently Maria Mazzotta is breaking new musical ground between tarantella, jazz and prog rock with a formation featuring Ernesto Nobili on electric guitar and percussionist Cristiano della Monica. For a joint performance, with this new daring conception of traditional Apulian music, Maria Mazzotta meets a new ensemble of the WATER & SOUND Festival, the Waterbirds.

[DE] Die Liebe zu Melodien von Manos Hadjidakis brachte die Musiker von Pnema im Sommer 2018 in München zusammen. Musiker mit unterschiedlichen Wurzeln (aus Griechenland, der Türkei und Deutschland) aber einer Gemeinsamkeit der Liebe zur Musik, verrückten Rhythmen und dem gemeinsamen musizieren. Ihr Repertoir umfasst alte und neue Lieder aus Kleinasien und Griechenland, Melodien welche noch Tage in einem nachklingen und unbedingt tanzbares Repertoire aus dem psychedelischen Süden.
[EN] The love for melodies by Manos Hadjidakis brought the musicians of Pnema in munich together in the summer of 2018. Musicians with different roots (from Greece, Turkey and Germany) but one thing in common – the love of music, crazy rhythms and making music together. Their repertoire includes old and new songs from Asia Minor and Greece, melodies that still resonate for days and danceable repertoire from the psychedelic south.
Lucy Sky
[DE] Lucy Sky, im wirklichen Leben Wissenschaftlerin und Volkswirtin, verbringt ihre Freizeit damit, akustische Reisen rund um den Globus zu unternehmen und dabei eklektische und obskure Klänge auszugraben. Mit ihrer Vorliebe für eine Mischung aus Jazz, Synthesizer, Experimentellem und Leftfield-Disco stellt sie konventionelle musikalische Ansätze in Frage. Lucy Sky, die in den letzten zehn Jahren in Frankreich gelebt hat und Zwischenstopps in Beirut, Libanon, und San Jose, Costa Rica, eingelegt hat, liebt es, Sets zu kombinieren, die Grenzen übertreten und neue Symbiosen schaffen.
[EN] Lucy Sky, a researcher and political economist in real life, spends her free time crafting sonic journeys that span the globe, unearthing eclectic and obscure sounds. With a penchant for blending electronic, experimental, jazz, synth, and leftfield disco, her sets challenge convention. Having called France home for the past decade, and with pit stops in Beirut, Lebanon, and San Jose, Costa Rica, Lucy Sky loves to combine sets that transcend borders and generate new symbioses.
