„Youth culture, DIY, right now!”. This should be the goal in all basements of the city. With great role models from various teen rock scenes (Brixton/London, Chicago, Melbourne, Seoul, Philadelphia etc.), the young music dorks called ‘newbs’ decided to redefine many things within the local music scene for themselves. The deal is to play shows and meet new friends, create connections between local bands and friends from out of town. This time we will host the wonderful group ‘Kind’ from Berlin – an up&coming project full of incredible songs highlighting their diverse influences.
Kind (Post Punk / Slowcore / Dreampop)
[DE] „Bring mich dahin, Monoma. Da wo eine Sache reicht; eine zur Zeit.“ singt das Musikprojekt Kind in ihrem Lied „Monoma“ und bewegen sich von ihrem Ursprung des Folks in diverse Genres wie Shoegaze, Slow-Core, Dream-Pop, Kraut und Post-Punk. Auf der Suche in dem, was uns umgibt, erzählen sie in Schnipseln, die mal energischer und mal ruhiger klingen mögen. Als Duo begonnen, fanden sie 2023 in Berlin als Quartett zusammen, was den Sound, der bisher meist von einem Gefühl von melancholischer Sehnsucht geprägt zu sein schien, sich nun mehr nach einer leichtfüßigen und verschrobenen Verspieltheit streckt.
[EN] The music group Kind moves from their folk origins into various genres such as shoegaze, slow-core, dream pop, kraut and post-punk. As they search through what surrounds them, they talk in snippets that sometimes sound more energetic and sometimes calmer. Starting out as a duo, they came together as a 4 piece band in Berlin in 2023, giving the sound that previously seemed to be characterized by a feeling of melancholic longing now more of a light-footed and quirky playfulness.
Shā Mò (沙漠) (Post Rock / Kraut Rock)
[DE] Shā Mò (沙漠) gibt uns einen Einblick in die Schulzeit der Musiker aus Shanghai, China. Während der Zeit hier in München wurde die Identifikation mit dem Heimatland immer schwieriger, sowohl politisch als auch sozial. Jedoch bringt das Schwelgen in gemeinsamen Erinnerung aus der Schulzeit eine neue, schöne und fast mythische Verbindung zur Heimat. Mit unbewusst eingesetzten Elementen aus der chinesichen Folks Musik, wird shā mò (沙漠) ein Set vorstellen voller lauter Gitarren, persönlichen Anekdoten und aufbauender Spannung.
[EN] Shā Mò (沙漠) gives us an insight into the school days of the musicians from Shanghai, China. During their time here in Munich, identification with their home country became increasingly difficult, both politically and socially. However, reveling in shared memories from school brings a new, beautiful and almost mythical connection to home. Using elements of Chinese folk music unconsciously, the four-piece band shāmò (沙漠) will present a set full of loud guitars, personal anecdotes and building tension. The first album will be released in late summer.
