[DE] Mit seiner charismatischen Stimme und der traditionellen Gumbri im Arm führt Adil Smaali das Ensemble Le Grand Bal Raï an – eine musikalische Hommage an die goldene Ära des algerischen Raï. Das Projekt ist weit mehr als eine reine Tribute-Show; es ist eine hochenergetische Neuerfindung eines Genres, das einst von Legenden wie Cheb Khaled, Cheikha Rimitti und Rachid Taha geprägt wurde.
Unter der musikalischen Leitung von Stéphane Puech verbindet die Gruppe die erdigen Wurzeln des Maghreb mit modernen, urbanen Sounds. Traditionelle Instrumente wie Violine und Perkussion treffen auf druckvolle Bässe und elektronische Akzente. Le Grand Bal Raï fängt die rohe Emotion und die rebellische Aufbruchstimmung des Raï (Meinung) ein und transportiert sie direkt auf die Tanzflächen von heute. Jedes Konzert verwandelt sich in ein pulsierendes Fest, das kulturelle Grenzen sprengt und die universelle Sprache des Rhythmus feiert.
[EN] Led by the magnetic presence of singer and guembri player Adil Smaali, Le Grand Bal Raï is a vibrant celebration of one of the Arab world’s most powerful musical exports. Drawing inspiration from the masters of the genre—including Cheb Khaled, Cheikha Rimitti, and Rachid Taha—the ensemble breathes new life into the classics while adding a distinctly modern, fusion-driven edge.
The Grand Bal Raï experience is a high-octane journey through the sounds of the Maghreb. Orchestrated by Stéphane Puech, the band seamlessly blends traditional North African melodies with contemporary grooves, synthesizers, and driving percussion. The result is a sound that remains faithful to the rebellious and emotional spirit of Raï (which literally means „opinion“ or „vision“) while creating an infectious, danceable energy for international audiences.
From intimate club stages to major world music festivals, Adil Smaali and his band demonstrate the unifying power of Raï, turning every performance into a collective celebration of heritage and modern innovation.

[DE] Der französisch-marokkanische Sänger und Komponist Walid Ben Selim gibt jahrhundertealter Dichtung eine unverwechselbare, eigene Stimme. Gemeinsam mit der Harfenistin Marie-Marguerite Cano verleiht er den Texten großer Sufi-Dichter sowie des bedeutenden palästinensischen Schriftstellers Mahmoud Darwish eine eindringliche musikalische Form. Das Duo kreiert eine hypnotisch-verzaubernde Atmosphäre, wenn Gesang, Poesie und Harfe unter freiem Himmel miteinander verschmelzen.
[EN] The Franco-Moroccan singer and composer Walid Ben Selim gives centuries-old poetry a distinctive, unmistakable voice. Together with harpist Marie-Marguerite Cano, he gives the texts of great Sufi poets and the eminent Palestinian writer Mahmoud Darwish a haunting musical form. The duo creates a hypnotic and enchanting atmosphere as song, poetry and harp blend together under the open sky.

[DE] Lucy Sky ist DJ und Moderatorin bei Radio 80000, wo sie die Sendung „Ist das Jazz?“ präsentiert. Nach zehn Jahren in Frankreich und Stationen in Beirut und San José kombiniert sie in ihren Sets obskure, tanzbare Musik und das Beste aus weltweiten musikalischen Rabbitholes.
[EN] Lucy Sky is a DJ and presenter at Radio 80000, where she hosts the programme “Ist das Jazz?” After spending ten years in France and stints in Beirut and San José, she combines obscure, danceable music with the best from musical rabbit holes around the world.

[DE] Seit zwei Jahren begeistert DJ Darismus sein Publikum in verschiedenen Münchner Kulturstätten. Seine einzigartige, facettenreiche Musiksammlung basiert auf iranischer und aserbaidschanischer Musik, breitet ihre Wurzeln über Kulturen hinweg aus und wird grenzenlos.
[EN] For the past two years, DJ Darismus has been thrilling audiences at various cultural venues across Munich. His unique, diverse music collection draws on Iranian and Azerbaijani music, with roots that span cultures and know no bounds.
