BITOI (Sweden / Denmark)
[DE] Mit BITOI (Bass Is The Original Instrument) bringt der schwedisch-äthiopische Komponist Cassius Lambert die Stimmen von Alexandra Shabo, Anja Tietze Lahrmann und Lise Kroner zusammen – gemeinsam erforschen sie das Spannungsfeld zwischen Tradition und künstlerischer Innovation, indem sie die zeitlose menschliche Stimme mit dem vergleichsweise jungen E-Bass verschränken. Ihre Texte basieren auf der phonetischen Aussprache von Vogelgesängen. Daneben weben sie Vogelpfeifen, Stimmbandtrommeln und Windgeräusche in eine faszinierend reichhaltige Klanglandschaft ein.
[EN] BITOI (Bass Is The Original Instrument) combine the timeless instrument of the human voice with the electric bass. Their lyrics are based on the phonetic pronunciation of birdsong. In addition, they weave bird whistles, vocal drums and wind noises into a fascinatingly rich soundscape.
Hatis Noit (Japan / UK)
[DE] Die Autodidaktin aus Hokkaido erschafft einzigartige Songwelten, die vom klassischen japanischen Gagaku ebenso inspiriert sind, wie von Opernstilen, bulgarischen und gregorianischen Gesängen und Avantgarde- und Pop-Sänger:innen.
[EN] Hatis Noit is a Japanese vocal performer hailing from distant Shiretoko in Hokkaido who now resides in London. Her accomplished range is astonishingly self-taught, inspired by everything she could find from Gagaku — Japanese classical music — and operatic styles, Bulgarian and Gregorian chanting, to avant-garde and pop vocalists.
The name Hatis Noit itself is taken from Japanese folklore, meaning the stem of the lotus flower. The lotus represents the living world, while its root represents the spirit world, therefore Hatis Noit is what connects the two. For Hatis Noit, music represents the same netherworld with its ability to move and transport us to the other side; the past, a memory, our subconscious.
