Die Gruppe Veja wurde 2007 in Pazin, Kroatien, gegründet. In den 15 Jahren ihres Bestehens hat sie sich zu einem der wichtigsten kroatischen Ethno-/Worldmusic-Interpreten entwickelt. Seit Beginn ihrer Arbeit hat sich Veja von der traditionellen Musik Istriens inspirieren lassen, die sie auf moderne Art und Weise interpretiert. Aufgrund seiner geografischen Lage ist Istrien eine Region, in der verschiedene Einflüsse aufeinandertreffen, was auch in der Musik zu spüren ist, die Elemente der dinarischen und italienischen Kultur enthält. All dies führt zu einem einzigartigen Musikstil in Gesang und Spiel.Die Arbeit von Veja vereint alle in Istrien existierenden Musikstile und konzentriert sich oft auf jene, die in der allgemeinen Wahrnehmung der istrischen Musiknicht so stark vertreten sind. Der Sänger und Instrumentalist der Band, Goran Farkaš, ist einer der größten Erforscher der istrischen Tradition.

[ENG] Group Veja was founded in 2007 in Pazin, Croatia. During their 15 years of work, it has become one of the most important Croatian ethno/world music performers. From the beginning of their work, Veja found inspiration in specific Istrian traditional music, which they decided to perform in a modern way. In their work, Veja combines all the musical styles that existin Istria, and often pays attention to those that are not so represented in the general perception of Istrian music. Before the pandemic, the first single from the second album, „Teško majki“, was released, and in June 2022, the album „Škura ura“ saw the light ofday. It is about another journey through Istrian traditional musical heritage, and with this album Veja has definitely confirmed herself as perhaps the best promoter of Istrian music, all with a modern approach that easily brings tradition closer to new, modern generations.
