Free Mind Soundsystem is a Munich- and Weilheim-based collective deeply rooted in the dub and reggae scene. Founded at the end of 2014, the project brings together a union of „bass-addicted friends“ united by their passion for spreading good vibes, deep sub-bass music, and authentic soundsystem culture. Their mission centers on creating community-driven events that celebrate the power of live sound reproduction and the connection between people through music.
For the next STP FWD session, Free Mind Soundsystem will host a special Soundsystem Conference at Import Export, continuing their tradition of bringing the soundsystem experience to life. This event features a unique format where three self-built soundsystems take turns playing one after another. Each system represents its own sonic identity while working together in a spirit of friendship and musical collaboration. Rather than competing, the systems push each other creatively, building energy throughout the night and showcasing the diversity and strength of independent soundsystem culture.
Alongside Free Mind, the other two participating systems are Moonbase and Farmer, each bringing their own character and sound to the stage. Together, they create a dynamic musical journey that highlights the communal and supportive nature of the soundsystem scene.
This event embodies the core values of Free Mind Soundsystem: community, collaboration, and an unwavering dedication to the art of soundsystem culture.
Moonbase Soundsystem consists of Operator Laurens and Selectress Sista Science. Even before they met and fell in love, they were united by their shared passion for Dub and Soundsystem culture. In 2020, driven by a longing for powerful bass, they decided to build their own soundsystem completely from scratch. Since then, they have not only enriched the Munich dub scene but also become a staple of Rootsbase at the Fusion festival. Beyond the Komod Festival, they have been seen at the decks and behind the controls in Dortmund, Münster, Hannover, and Augsburg.
Farmer Soundsystem is a Regensburg-based dub crew consisting of Rapha Farmer, Jerrydubz, Lebörf, and Amando. For the session, the quartet brings vinyl selections ranging from Roots and Golden Era Dub to the heaviest Stepper tunes, featuring pre-releases from their own fields or from other producers. The set is complemented by live improvised vocals, melodica, and percussion.
